When a scan needs to stay lossless but also needs to open outside specialist imaging software, PNG is the bridge. Every pixel from the TIFF survives, and unlike TIFF, the result drops straight into browsers, chat apps and design tools.
TIFF is the archival and print format: lossless, layer-friendly and fully colour-managed. Scanners, print bureaus and museums produce it, but it is far too heavy for the web.
The image is preserved exactly at 8 bits per channel, and PNG's compression often makes the file noticeably smaller than the TIFF. Higher bit depths, layers and colour profiles used in professional print workflows are not carried over.
What you gain with PNG: Lossless quality, an alpha channel for transparency and universal support in every browser and operating system.
Drop your TIFF file above and Morphio decodes it locally, then re-encodes it as PNG using WebAssembly + the browser's native codecs. Nothing is ever uploaded — your files stay on your device. Batch as many files as your machine can handle. See exactly how in-browser conversion works.
Open the TIFF to PNG page, drop your image on the drop zone and press convert. Morphio runs an in-browser image pipeline built on Canvas and WebAssembly codecs, so the TIFF data never leaves your device and no server ever receives a copy.
Colour profile and pixel dimensions are preserved; you choose the quality level before the file is written. Converting TIFF to PNG only rewrites the container and encoding you asked for — the source file on your disk is never modified.
Yes. The free plan covers 10 conversions a day with files up to 200 MB and adds no watermark or sign-up. Morphio Pro ($5/month, or $29 once for lifetime access) removes the daily cap and raises the per-file limit to 5 GB.
Visually nothing at standard bit depth. 16-bit data, layers and multi-page structure are flattened away.
PNG, every time — JPG smears letter edges, while PNG keeps them razor sharp.
