If a page is heavy with photographs, JPG is usually the single biggest thing to fix. WebP encodes the same photo with a modern codec, cutting roughly a quarter to a third of the bytes without a visible difference — and Core Web Vitals notice immediately.
JPG is the photographic workhorse of the web: a lossy format from 1992 that trades invisible detail for dramatically smaller files. Practically every camera, printer and upload form accepts it.
At default quality the result is visually indistinguishable from the JPG while being 25–35% smaller. Because JPG is already lossy, avoid re-encoding at low quality repeatedly; convert from the best original you have.
What you gain with WEBP: Noticeably smaller pages, transparency and animation in one format, supported by every current browser.
Drop your JPG file above and Morphio decodes it locally, then re-encodes it as WEBP using WebAssembly + the browser's native codecs. Nothing is ever uploaded — your files stay on your device. Batch as many files as your machine can handle. See exactly how in-browser conversion works.
Open the JPG to WEBP page, drop your image on the drop zone and press convert. Morphio runs an in-browser image pipeline built on Canvas and WebAssembly codecs, so the JPG data never leaves your device and no server ever receives a copy.
Colour profile and pixel dimensions are preserved; you choose the quality level before the file is written. Converting JPG to WEBP only rewrites the container and encoding you asked for — the source file on your disk is never modified.
Yes. The free plan covers 10 conversions a day with files up to 200 MB and adds no watermark or sign-up. Morphio Pro ($5/month, or $29 once for lifetime access) removes the daily cap and raises the per-file limit to 5 GB.
For the web, yes — same perceived quality at meaningfully smaller size, plus transparency and animation support. JPG still wins for legacy software and print workflows.
Yes. Drop a whole batch and each one is encoded locally on your machine; nothing queues on a server.
