RAR is a proprietary archive format created by WinRAR. While it offers excellent compression, almost every device and operating system already knows how to open ZIP out of the box. Windows Explorer, macOS Finder, Linux file managers, Android, and iOS all handle ZIP natively — no extra apps needed.
Converting RAR to ZIP makes your archives easier to share, open, and store. Recipients don't need WinRAR installed, and ZIP is supported by virtually every cloud storage, email provider, and CMS.
Morphio uses a WebAssembly build of libarchive to read your RAR file directly in the browser. It extracts every file and folder, then repacks them into a standard ZIP archive using the battle-tested jszip library. The entire pipeline runs locally — your archive never leaves your device, there's no server, and there's no upload progress bar because there's nothing to upload.
